3D additive manufacturing and hardening on moulds and dies: our innovative and high-performance solution for a cutting-edge approach to mould-making

Mould and Die manufacturers still conduct today repair, modification and hardening using manual systems which often cause problems in terms of accuracy and risks to the health and safety of the operator, slowing down the time to market. Jobs LASERSPEEDER is the innovative solution for automating the Q-Loop process in mould making, allowing to considerably shorten time-to-market and reduce development costs.

Jobs LASERSPEEDER is an overhead gantry with a laser optical unit specifically conceived to perform two main processes:

  • Cladding

This technology is used to create a wear-resistant layer on mechanical components. The most common application is to repair and/or add new complex geometries through 3D additive manufacturing on automotive tools and dies. The selected technological unit is a diode laser which uses an Fe-base alloy as filler material. The coating height has a range from 0.2 mm to 2 mm.

  • Hardening

This technology is used to increase hardness on all commercial hardenable steels. Compared to other technologies like flame or inductor, this system only treats locally reducing the distortion. The achieved result is a hardness between 55 and 62 HRC. The temperature control ensures a high reliability of the process and an excellent quality even on complex geometry and contours.

Technical features

  • X-Axis 3000-4500-6000-7000 mm
  • Y-Axis from 3000 to 5000 mm
  • Z-Axis from 1500 to 2000 mm
  • Speed up to 50 m/min

3-polar-axis fork-type head equipped with high-speed torque motors and with a high-power diode laser optical unit.

The optics are interchangeable to allow the execution of three tasks:

  • Measuring
  • Cladding
  • Hardening

The switch can be easily performed by just changing the mirror from hardening to focusing and mounting the powder nozzle.
